Logical Flow

Is this research logical at sentence, paragraph and document structure level? Is it well reasoned, with good arguments strung together well, each with a beginning and middle and an end? Do the sections connect with each part leading on to the next part, and with the discussion linking back to address the issues raised in the introduction?

Also Called: Logically organized, Logical flow, Well reasoned, Good arguments, Connectedness with respect to Theory, Analysis, Conclusions, and Document structure/organization, e.g. research objectives connect to appropriate theory which supports a research question which fits a method that generates data that addresses the question and leads to conclusions.

The whole document need to have a logical flow. See also the following elements:

  1. Logical Structure: Is the document structured as a logical progression of ideas?

  2. Purpose: Is the research purpose stated in a single sentence within the first few pages?

  3. Focus: Are the papers discussed relevant to the research topic?

  4. Literature Analysis: Is the literature analyzed by issues, not merely given as a sequential list of other research?

  5. Theory Frame-Work: Is the theory frame-work that the research will use stated, ideally with a diagram?

  6. Research Question: Is the research question a single question, of a real choice (falsifiable), that feasible data collection can test?

  7. Method Choice: Is the method chosen appropriate for the research question?

  8. Conclusions: Do the conclusions address the research question and other issues from the introduction?

  9. Logical Argument: Are reasons given before conclusions and conclusions derived from what went before?
