Theory Framework
State the theory framework this research will use, ideally with a diagram
Theories propose and connect abstract constructs/variables, and research grounds them in physical data. The value of abstract theory is that, being abstract, it can describe innumerable specifics, e. g. the law of gravity applies generally to any falling object. The disadvantage of theory is that, being abstract, it can disconnect from concrete reality, e. g. superstitions. Every publication needs a theory framework, as research without theory is like a car without an engine. Collecting data without a theory direction often wastes time and effort - like a person who is lost wastes time wandering about, e. g. a questionnaire needs a clear theory issue it addresses, or it will be tediously long and full of useless questions. Based on your literature review of constructs others have used, which may overlap or contradict, you must explicitly choose the theory framework that you will use in this research. Your conceptual framework may be an existing theory as it is, a combination of one or more existing theories, a modification of one or more existing theories, or a new theory of your own making. Your conceptual framework is the theory that will direct your research, and ideally should be given in a diagram.
